A Summer to Remember
What a truly wonderful summer we’ve had here at The Bay Filey! It was such a pleasure to meet some of our owners for the very first time and to welcome back so many familiar faces. Seeing you, your families, and your guests enjoying everything the village has to offer has been a real highlight for us.
We’ve loved hosting extra-special owners’ events this summer, including Tapas & Sangria and Cheese & Wine afternoons, which were both very well received. Our extended entertainment programme also brought plenty of smiles, with comedians, singers, and even a few big winners in the Away Resorts linked bingo! Thank you for your kind feedback about Four Cats – we’re delighted to confirm it remains consistently open four days a week moving forward.
Dining Update
As we step into September, we’re pleased to confirm that the JPJ continues to serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner daily.
Please note: due to essential health & safety works, the JPJ kitchen will close at 2.30pm on 16th September and remain closed on the 17th. Normal service resumes on 18th September for breakfast at 10am.
Drinks will still be available at JPJ during this period as normal.
Four Cats will be open extra over this time:
16thSeptember 3.30pm – 8.30pm
17th September12.30 pm – 8.30pm
Street Lighting Progress
We’ve made excellent progress across the park, with all but four lights now fully operational.
- Tranquility Court (bottom end): Requires trenching and new cabling – solar alternatives are being explored.
- The Meadows Exit Gate: Currently without power; we’re tracing the source and considering solar options.
- Outside 14 Turnberry Drive & Courtyard Light (Table Tennis): Awaiting specialist coachman-style fittings, due late October.
- Outside 1 Discovery Way: Recently installed but unfortunately damaged by a vehicle; trench works are ongoing.
Completed:
- Outside 16 Turnberry Drive – photocell replaced
- Opposite 33 Sunrise Drive – photocell replaced
As mentioned in last update, to ensure long-term reliability, Tom has mapped every streetlight and has assigning reference numbers and QR codes. Weekly checks are now carried out by our security team, with issues reported immediately.
Additionally:
- Oyster Way – all lights now fully operational
- Christmas tree lights – mistakenly activated but now switched off
Grounds & Maintenance
- Sleepers: Contractors have been appointed, and a full schedule of works will be shared following an upcoming meeting.
- Cleaning of Rendered Properties: Ongoing as part of routine care.
- Bin Bays: Thank you for your patience. All collections are now in place, and remedial works will continue at the end of September.
- Weed Spraying: Completed, with dead weeds being cleared away, as per the grounds team rotation.
- Boules Courts: Recently refreshed with weed treatment and 15 tonnes of sand – it was fantastic to see these in full use over summer!
- Bushes & Balcony Ropes: Reported issues have now been rectified or replaced. Please let Guest Services know if you have anything further.
Utilities
In line with guidance from our national Health & Safety team, Away Resorts will continue to take meter readings for communal blocks upon request, free of charge. For security and safety reasons, we are unable to distribute keys.
Leisure Centre
We are very pleased to announce that a new Head of Department has been appointed and will be introduced to you in October. In the meantime, you may have noticed significant improvements in day-to-day cleanliness and presentation. We’ll continue to refine our ways of working to ensure the Leisure Centre is always clean, safe, and welcoming.
The Meadows
- Gates: Fully operational – if you haven’t yet collected your fob, please do so at Guest Services.
- Painting Works: A reminder that repainting will take place this September as planned.
Thank you all for making this summer such a special one. We look forward to an exciting autumn ahead, full of improvements, events, and opportunities to enjoy everything our beautiful village has to offer.
