Dear Member
Please see the response from the committee to Away Resorts below…….
Thank you again for your detailed response to the FBOA’s concerns re the Street Lighting and Wooden Sleepers.
Having considered your response, the views of the FBOA Committee are as follows:
- Your letter sets out a status on both issues of which the Owners had no, or very little, knowledge. This is unfortunate and perhaps illustrates a less than optimum level of communication between the parties. We, the FBOA, as representative of all Owners, have always been eager to promote the best of communication and cooperation and we hope that this written episode reinforces the fact that we should all work together for the betterment of the Village.
- The street lighting issue is in need of a very urgent resolution. We note your use of the word “…promptly…” and wonder what this in reality means? We are encouraged by messages received from Michaela in recent days which appear to suggest a solution is being worked towards, but surely all of this work ought to be complete by 31 March 2025? Could we request your confirmation on this point please?
- The Sleepers. We do not agree that the sleepers are safe for use. After any amount of rainfall or frost the sleepers become hazardous and thereby unsafe. We realise that an overall replacement constitutes a sizeable capital project and we would encourage AWAY not to defer the initial phase of such replacements out of 2025 so that physical improvements can be witnessed by the Ownership within the current year.
- Finally, we believe this is an opportune moment to express our concern at the lack of resolution of the 2023 audit issues, alongside our concerns on insurance matters which were put to AWAY in August 2024. If we are all to act in collaboration then responses from AWAY are long overdue. Having progressed constructively on the above 2 issues then surely now is the time to actively engage and remove the “stop – start” approach which has hindered these audit processes for quite some time. As always, the FBOA is available at any time to engage in meetings to address the issues.
Kind regards,
Peter Convey
