About the committee

The Committee are all volunteers who work on behalf of our Members. We meet every couple of months to discuss all of the issues that the Association is dealing with. We welcome and are always open to hear from Members about issues they wish to be considered.

Jackie and I purchased on The Bay for the first time in 2009.  We were awe-struck by the uniqueness of the village and its proximity to the glorious beach. By 2020 we had become a little dis-illusioned and sold.  A decision we very quickly regretted once we realised the depth of our affiliation to the location and its facilities. In 2022 we purchased again and re-kindled our love of the place.

As stated earlier in the website, the aim of the Association is to ensure that the village remains a unique and wonderful facility which everyone can enjoy.  It is my privilege to act as your Chairperson and to try to influence the decisions and management actions of AWAY Resorts wherever we can.

We have loved Filey and the surrounding area for many years, especially the beach which provides ample room for us and our dogs to exercise. In 2019 we became proud owners on the Bay and joined FBOA. Joining the committee, when they put out a call for a Treasurer seemed like a natural progression, and I hope I can represent the owners and protect their interests going forward.

Anthony Smith, Compliance Secretary

My family have owned our house since 2013 and love visiting to the Bay as well as owning a house that other people visit and make memories. With a background in engineering and senior leadership in education, Anthony is keen to work as an association with the bay and with owners to ensure statutory and contractual obligations are undertaken.

Committee members

We also have Members on the Committee responsible for particular areas:

Simon Kelemen, Website Secretary

My wife and I have owned a property at the Bay since early 2016. We love both our house and the Filey area. As a letting asset, we have also a vested interest in the success and successful management of the holiday village. It is critical, therefore, that Owners have a voice that is heard. Consequently, I am happy to support the committee in any way possible to ensure that the Bay flourishes.

Nigel Morrison, Facebook Secretary

My wife, Emma and I purchased our cottage in 2011. After staying on site twice, we felt that the unique setting and location were too good an opportunity to pass by. Our cottage was a little less than a concrete slab when we first saw it, and we watched it rise up and become what we have lovingly called our holiday home. We have rented our cottage out from the start and have many long-standing, returning guests, as well as having many family breaks.

The Facebook Group gathered owners together to discuss some of the issues that were starting to cause concern way back in 2016, before the FBOA was even thought about. Since then, it has become a quick, easy and convenient forum for members to voice concerns, share views, tips and support one another, making sense in fact to align both initiatives and hence I joined the Committee.

Anne Day

We bought our cottage at The Bay in 2019, a special place for us, having stayed in rental properties here over the years. Born in Yorkshire, I have fond memories of childhood visits to the coast, which inspired us to create a familiar spot to share with our family. Staying at The Bay is perfect as we love outdoor pursuits and the beach, offering us – and those we welcome here – a place of respite from busy lives. I joined the committee in 2023.

Les Foulger

We visited The Bay as guests 3 times and based on that and having friends who also own we bought our “home from home” in 2021.We visit as often as we can with the hope that it will be more often when I retire at the end of this year!
I joined the FBOA committee in 2023 to offer my experience as a Chartered Surveyor with over 40 years experience in Property Management

Supporting Members

Chris Taylor, Technical support and system administrator

help@fileyowners.org

My wife and I have been owners since 2016, but we have been regular visitors to the East Coast since childhood. We now have the honour of introducing Yorkshire coast charms to a small but growing collection of grandchildren! Chris works in the technology industry as a consultant, and Katharine manages the bookings for our holiday apartment.

Help from Members

And from time to time we call on the expertise of other Members to help with particular projects or issues. We are extremely pleased to benefit from the vast array of talents of all Members, and very grateful for the way we all ‘pull together’ to achieve the aims of the Association.

If you have any particular skills you feel would assist the Association, or you’d like to contact us for any other reason, please email contact@fileyowners.org.
